A whopping 14 Devon Beaches get Blue Flag Award

The Blue Flag Awards for 2019 are in and it should be no surprise that 14 Devon beaches have been given this coveted status.  Even more good news is that most are less than 20 miles from Three Pound Cottage, the best Dartmoor Holiday Cottage.

It’s not just about achieving the challenging water quality standards.  To receive the award the beaches need to meet additional criteria:

  • High Environmental Standards;
  • Excellent Cleanliness;
  • Safe Access;
  • Signage;
  • Educational Activities for the local community and visitors.

You can find our more about the Blue Flag Award here but all you really need to know is the beaches that have achieved this accolade: Teignmouth; Torre Abbey Sands; Dawlish Warren; Oddicombe; Meadfoot; Breakwater; Preston Sands; Broadsands; Blackpool Sands; Challaborough; Westward Ho!; Croyde Bay; Exmouth’s Sandy Bay and Exmouth itself.
